uploading American Tilt Top Inlaid Mahogany Candlestand
American
Ca. 1790
A choice example of a type associated with the Boston area. The rectangular top with canted corners is edged with a narrow
patterned inlay. The post is well developed and the "spider" legs have an excellent stance emphasing the best in vertical American proportions. The slightly over polished older finish
is in very good condition.

Condition
Very good antique condition. Catch is replaced. Post has a natural stress check filled with a narrow strip of mahogany. The screws appear never to have been moved. Each cleat at some time had two screws going into the block to keep the top from tilting.
