Regency Shell and Floral Inlaid Valuables Box England
Ca. 1825
A very pretty box with four inlaid whelk shells, an ivory escutcheon, a bouquet of flowers and patterned wood inlaid bands at the top, bottom and inside. The wood is possibly
mulberry burl (I've always had trouble identifying burls) that is a warm dark honey color.
Price
$1,900
Condition
Overall very good antique condition. As you can see by the photos there are small areas of patterned band inlay missing as well as a few dings.
The upper part of the fabric covered interior is missing the
vertical ring holders.
