Still Life Oil Painting With Violin and "Blue Danube" Music American 1885 Perfect for the music lover. A well painted still life signed "L E Van Gorder, '85, New York". An early example by Luther Emerson VanGorder (1861-1931) who studied in New York, London and at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. It is painted on canvas which has been laid down on masonite. Price $2,300 Condition Excellent antique condition. Only a few very small areas of in painting. The silver leaf was coated with a yellow gamboge to simulate gold leaf.
